During the course of production, a process that has took almost two full years to complete we directly employed over 60 local Mentawai workers and artisans. Today, we continue to employ over 30 people in our day to day operations.
Our partnerships with the local villagers in our surrounding areas offer many benefits; economic freedom, employment and training opportunities to improve their future. We're proud to say that our workers and our staff consists primarily of experienced locals dedicated to protecting the well being and natural environment of the Mentawai Islands.
Kandui Resort is also committed to working with local NGO’s including SurfAid to improve the health and social conditions in our immediate areas, and the entire Mentawai chain as a whole. For the past 8 years Saraina Koat Mentawai who manages Kandui Resort has been actively involved in numerous projects with local NGO's and SurfAid; most notably our signature event called "Wave of Compassion."
