During your stay on Kandui, home will be one of only 7 “umas”, traditional thatched houses built in the traditional Mentawai style by local Mentawaian craftsmen. Each is clean, spacious, comfortable, and offers an unparalleled view to the waves, ocean, and islands that surround the resort. Hand-woven vaulted ceilings and the natural design features provide a sense of adventure and culture while the interior design features provide a feeling of home.

Main Features Include:
Using local Mentawai builders, under the guidance of an American development team, Kandui maximizes its local surroundings and functions as a partial eco- resort, yet still delivers a very high standard of accommodations and personal space.

Each “uma” provides ample sleeping and bathing areas accentuated by a queen sized bed with nets, rattan furniture, and its own sense of warmth and identity. All umas will be stocked with cold drinks.
Each bathroom has a sink, toilet, mirror, shower, hairdryer, and is completely tiled. Bath, hand, and face towels are also available in every room.
Additional Features Include:

Electrical outlets with adaptors for charging a multitude of electrical devices.

All guests will also have access to a wireless connection that will be available in their rooms or in our business center located inside the Office.
We offer phone connections to the main desk, housekeeping, restaurant, room service, and room to room.
There are screened windows with a glass window that can be shut tight and locked, with curtains on the inside to let in, or block out light.
Beautiful, hand-sanded hardwood floors.

Specific area to hang wet clothes outside.

Madobak features it's own unique design and is also known as Uma #2.

Lubaga offers an unparalleled view of the ocean and is known as Uma #3.
Sotboyak - 2 person Uma
Sotboyak is also known as Uma #4 and features a distinctive porch and one-of-a-kind woodworking.

Pasakiat is Uma #5 and the like all of the other umas offer an artistic flair in it's style.
Ugai - 2 person Uma
Ugai is our farthest two person uma from the restaurant and is known as Uma #6.
Kerei - Our "Family" Uma: Four to Six person Uma
Our deluxe uma ideal for groups of 4 - 6 people featuring a living room, two bathrooms, and two bedrooms on the edge of an ancient forest.
Your uma should be able to store all of your clothes, toiletries, and miscellaneous items. Larger items such as surfboards are stored in a designated area outside your uma or in the surfboard staging area that you can access to grab a new board, fins, leash, whatever you need. The staff will be able to help you find room for all of your belongings in a safe place where you can find them easily.
Kerei is our deluxe uma ideally suited for groups of four or traveling families. Kerei consists of two bedrooms, two bathrooms, both separated by a living room. It is a formidable structure that offers plenty of room to spread out and relax in privacy.
